SIPS 2025 – 5th International Conference of the Society for Interdisciplinary Placebo Studies (SIPS)!
It was a true pleasure and honor to participate in SIPS 2025, held on June 15–18 in the beautiful city of Kraków. On Monday, June 16, professor Katarzyna Starowicz had the privilege of delivering a plenary lecture titled: “The role of cannabidiol in pain and mood disorders: evidence for a breakthrough or merely a placebo?”
The conference featured a wealth of outstanding lectures and thought-provoking discussions. Highlights included: Keynote lecture “Rats can make good choices: effect of alternative food and social rewards on drug use and relapse in rat models of addiction” by Prof. Yavin Shaham (National Institute on Drug Abuse – NIH, USA) and a plenary lecture “A multimodal approach to expectations and placebo effects: biomarkers, phenotypes, disparities, and cultural aspects” by Prof. Luana Colloca (University of Maryland, USA).
SIPS 2025 was not only scientifically rich, but also a wonderful opportunity to reconnect with colleagues, friends, and collaborators from around the world.
Warmest congratulations to Prof. Przemysław Bąbel and his outstanding organizing team for creating a truly comprehensive and unforgettable event – from the well-attended scientific program and lively poster sessions to an exceptional social program.
A special highlight was the gala dinner, complete with a surprise tango show – and even the chance to learn the basics of this beautiful and emotionally expressive dance ourselves!
